Softball Drops PSAC Championship Opener

LOCK HAVEN--The Bloomsburg University softball team dropped its opening game in the 2006 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) softball championships by a 3-0 score to Kutztown University.
The Huskies managed six hits in the game, but stranded six runners. Bloomsburg had two runners on in the second, fifth and sixth innings, but could not get the key hit in bring in any runs.
Kutztown got on the board first when Krista Cameron hit a home run with one out in the second inning. The Golden Bears made it 3-0 in the fourth Caitlin Hague hit a two-run pinch double scoring Lindsay Bennett and Cameron with the insurance runs.
Bloomsburg's Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) took the loss despite allowing just six hits and striking out six. She falls to 17-7 with the loss. Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) led the offense going 2-4 for the Huskies.
The Huskies, now 35-14, will face Shippensburg at noon at Lock Haven in an elimination game.
